Here is an overview of the types of issues and matters that the attorney would be expected to handle:
Support and counsel regarding the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the company's EH&S compliance and audit programs. Counsel on specific compliance and administrative issues as well as anticipate and advise regarding new EH&S rules and regulations. Assist with permitting, variance and enforcement matters relating to facility operations, expansions, new equipment acquisition, and other modifications. Participate in and, where appropriate, initiate and coordinate internal consensus-building and teaming across functions to effect regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in EH&S. Review and respond to "Superfund" and other multi-party clean up and cost recovery claims. Advise regarding environmental considerations of site acquisitions and leases, and conduct related environmental due diligence. Review and negotiate environmental provisions of asset purchases and lease agreements. Support and advise relating to environmental remediation and regulatory closure matters. Counsel the company on federal, state and local laws and regulations and compliance with product- and automotive service-related environmental issues. Advise regarding the company's efforts toward encouraging EH&S compliance efforts and other environmental activities by dealers and other business partners. Qualifications J.D. degree and member of California State Bar At least 7 years experience in environmental, hazmat and occupational safety and health matters - including solid, working knowledge and understanding of EH&S regulatory schemes - providing senior, enterprise-level advice and counsel, preferably in a major law firm or large corporation Demonstrated initiative and willingness to be accountable for and take on new areas of responsibility as necessary to support the company's overall objectives Practical, problem-solving approach to complex legal problems Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong client and customer focus and interpersonal skills Strong analytical, organizational and process-development skills, including the ability to work with database and matter management systems Demonstrable ability to manage outside counsel and work with a budget Strong grasp of skills that build consensus, inclusion and teamwork towards results Other transactional or litigation experience may be helpful MENTION GOINHOUSE.COM WHEN APPLYING.
