The Role

As our first in-house attorney, you will be an integral part of our business’s growth. You will support all of our internal departments. You will advise the company in its day-to-day operations and its work with counterparties, investors, and other key stakeholders. While you are expected to work well independently, you will also have access to Cometeer’s legal advisors and outside counsel. You will report to the CFO.

What you’ll do:

Serve as sole in-house counsel available for day-to-day needs and provide general legal oversight and advice to all of Cometeer.

Draft, review, revise, negotiate, and manage a variety of contractual agreements, including NDAs, master service agreements, supply agreements, marketing agreements, commercial partnership agreements, and other key commercial documents.

Coordinate with outside counsel on matters that require deep subject-specific expertise.

Oversee regulatory and compliance issues.

Oversee the company’s intellectual property portfolio.

Analyze, identify, and manage legal risks faced by the Company.

Build out our in-house compliance and legal teams as we scale.

What we’re looking for:

The ability to practice law in New York

6+ years of experience as a lawyer: ideally you’ve worked at a corporate law firm and as an in-house counsel at another high growth startup

The ability to handle ambiguity and uncertainty at a high growth startup

An operational mindset and willingness to engage in both high-level legal strategy and day-to-day operational execution

Strong track record of collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Experience in growth-stage companies is highly preferred.
