In House Counsel (f/m/d)

As In-house Legal Counsel, you will have a wide range of responsibilities. You will play an instrumental role in providing legal support for our first Business Unit outside Germany to make it a successful US business in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Your responsibilities

• You will have a wide range of responsibilities in a fun, fast-paced company and environment, you must also be able to manage operational legal matters within a variety of legal fields
• You are responsible for all corporate matters of our US subsidiary along with coordination with the parent company and other subsidiaries
• You will be central in coordinating, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating supplier-, procurement-, IT-, logistic-, media-, retail- contracts, B2C and B2B terms and conditions, license agreements and employment contracts
• You drive the standardization of our consumer facing and partner relationships ranging from logistic, manufacturing and licensing to content production and media partnerships
• You support our IP team (patent, trademark and design) with US context
• You build a support team of external legal advisors and experts
• You will ensure regulatory compliance for our products
• You will ensure proper data security and privacy protections are in place for a D2C oriented company
• You assist in managing our insurance portfolio
• You will work hand in hand with our headquarters legal department
• You will support legal processes during due diligence and funding rounds
• And other duties as needed or assigned

That's you

• You should have a J.D. and Bar membership in good standing
• 3-5 years of relevant experience as in-house legal counsel or with a business law firm
• Good judgement and the ability to deal with a wide variety of different matters in a fast-paced environment
• You are great at building productive relationships.
• You love to connect the dots and think 360 Degrees
• You can consider the legal and the business viewpoints
• You have the ability to write and speak clearly and concisely in plain language
• You are not afraid of the new or unknown
• You can provide actionable and hands on advice and work with cross-functional teams
• Within a matter of days you can become immersed in a new field if necessary
• You take responsibility and have a self-starter mentality
• You value strong and mutually respectful relationships​

Nice to have

• You are licensed in California or multiple states.
• You have experience working with a startup or young enterprise
• You have experience in an international context
• You already have experience in the following areas: Labor law, competition law, contract law, regulatory law, setting up international holding structures, transfer pricing, VC / corporate law, international trade and import and export, IP law, insurance

• Experience building and leading a team of legal professionals
