The Paralegal & Claims Manager will support the General Counsel to proactively assess legal risks and find solutions to help the organization accomplish its short and long-term objectives.

Paralegal & Claims Manager

The Paralegal & Claims Manager will support the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer to proactively assess legal risks and find solutions to help the organization accomplish its short and long-term objectives and ensure that the organization conducts business in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Works collaboratively on real estate funds, transactions and due diligence projects
  • Manages litigation and claims (including, but not limited to, detailed oversight of litigation logs, case strategy recommendations, claim reviews, loss trends and legal spend) for efficient resolutions
  • Oversees risk management software, coordinates and directs risk and safety training
  • Coordinates insurance renewal documentation and delivery of insurance certificates, review of insurance policy language, fund and loan insurance requirements
  • Supports multifamily and hospitality operations through strong communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgment and reputation management
  • Researches and assesses local and national laws
  • Prepares and reviews corporate legal documents, including complex structure charts
  • Supervises corporate entity formation and compliance, insurance program compliance, loan covenant compliance
  • Reviews and responds to subpoenas both at the corporate and site level and warrant review, communicates efficiently with law enforcement
  • Builds and maintains form contract database

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Paralegal Certificate required
  • 5+ years' related paralegal experience preferred; previous litigation, real estate and claims management experience desired
  • Valid Drivers License preferred
  • Limited travel may be required, 10-20% based on business needs
