Assistant Counsel

Individually built and invisibly serviced, for 20 or 200 people, Knotel offers mature businesses the flexibility they need and customization they want in a workspace. No leases, no shared tables. This is a new way to do things in a huge, traditional industry.

Knotel is seeking an ambitious Assistant Counsel to join as the second member of its legal department. Reporting to our General Counsel, you’ll be touching all aspects of the Knotel business, with a focus on commercial matters and our real estate portfolio. In this role, you will be an integral part of the collaborative and close-knit Knotel team working with business units throughout the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of agreements, with a particular focus on negotiating property and commercial transactions, including leases, vendor contracts and member-facing arrangements
  • Managing legal, insurance, and compliance matters related to Knotel’s real estate portfolio
  • Creating and implementing procedures for lease management, organization, and documentation
  • Assisting on governance and corporate matters
  • Managing outside counsel and vendor relationships


  • An attorney in good standing in New York with 1-3 years of relevant in-house or firm experience
  • Experience with, or strong interest in, real estate (leasing, development, permitting, etc.) and technology
  • Able to tackle legal issues in the context of larger business considerations and communicate “legalese” to non-lawyers
  • A multi-tasker with excellent analytical and legal skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and flexible
  • Critical thinker able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
