This position will be primarily responsible for providing legal advice, guidance and support related to transactions in all areas (Commercial, Research and Development (R&D), Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS), Corporate Goods and Services (CGS) and Information Technology Services.
Position will report to Counsel or Senior Corporate Counsel, Strategic Corporate Transactions (SCT)
Lead negotiations and provide direct counseling to clients on transactional matters.
Draft, negotiate, revise and finalize ordinary and extraordinary contracts in an effective, efficient and time-sensitive manner.
Proactively identify the need for, and then drive the creation of, new or improved templates for common transactions.
Proactively advise and counsel clients to resolve issues regarding transactions in close collaboration with lawyers from other practice areas.
Possess strong business acumen and ability to work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision.
Has excellent interpersonal and legal skills and is able to identify and resolve critical legal issues.
Consistently prioritizes workload based on business needs and communicates this prioritization.
Works cooperatively with peers to leverage skills and knowledge within the SCT and the Law Department.
Proactively identifies the need for, prepares and delivers training and other aids for clients.
Actively contributes to maintaining a solid SCT team, through participation in discussions, sharing best practices, collaboration on projects, etc.
Excellent verbal and writing skills and business judgment are required, as well as a collaborative work style.
Must have high integrity, ability to assess risk, ability to make decisions and think strategically and have knowledge of applicable legal issues, and possess a strong work ethic.

Law degree from recognized university. Qualification to practice law in New Jersey.
Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a transactions group of a major law firm or in legal function of a major corporation, preferably in the area of life-science/pharmaceutical law.
Understanding of health care industry.
Excellent administrative and organization.
Significant experience negotiating all types of contracts.
Service oriented approach to client groups.
Breadth of exposure to the legal and business issues that arise in connection with transactions.
Creative, thoughtful and practical problem-solving skills.
Listens to client needs and communicates with clients with confidence and diplomacy.
Ability to communicate effectively with management and senior management personnel.
Can successfully manage client expectations and can work/operate well with a variety of personalities/capabilities in cross-functional teams, matrix environment.
