Job Description

21st Century Fox is seeking an experienced trademark lawyer reporting to the head of the Intellectual Property Legal Group. This is a broad-based role, having wide-ranging responsibilities with respect to all facets of trademarks, domain names, title clearance and branding for select businesses of 21st Century Fox worldwide, including Fox’s film banners (20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Fox Animation, Blue Sky Animation and Fox 2000), television production divisions (Twentieth Century Fox Television, Fox 21 Television Studios), the broadcast television network, FOX, the cable television networks, including FX, FOX SPORTS, FOX NEWS, National Geographic Channel, as well as the international television businesses with channels such as FOX CRIME, FOX LIFE, VOYAGE and 24KITCHEN, the owned and operated television stations, and other Fox businesses such as Home Entertainment, Fox Music and Fox Consumer Products. This position entails significant interaction with senior Fox executives around the world. The position is located in Los Angeles.


Leadership and strategy for protection of the Company’s IP assets in the areas of trademark clearance, registration and enforcement practices, including portfolio management.

Conducting educational programs for Fox divisions on relevant issues in trademark and unfair competition law.

Counseling executives on day to day IP issues related to the production of films and television series, advertising, marketing, online presence, acquisitions and divestitures.

Working with a network of outside trademark counsel in over 80 countries.


Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school with superior academic credentials.

At least 5 years’ in-house and law firm experience with significant focus on intellectual property.

Experience managing outside counsel on a global scale.

Experience managing extensive global trademark portfolios, including handling clearance and prosecution.

Strong oral and written communication, negotiation, interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

Strong business acumen.

Ability to act decisively with sound judgment in time sensitive situations.

Entertainment industry knowledge preferred.

Experience with IP enforcement matters, including opposition and cancellation proceedings, claim letters and litigation.
