The Legal Group is looking for an Associate General Counsel who will be responsible for the Bank’s employment law, privacy and litigation function. This is a senior-level role reporting to the General Counsel. We are looking for someone to bring thought leadership and expertise as we continue to support the Bank’s progressive approach to employee culture and experience.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead the employment law team
  • Provide counsel and strategic support to the Bank’s senior executives regarding a range of employment law issues including those relating to recruiting, hiring, terminations, compensation, accommodations, leaves of absence, diversity programs, employee classification, and other matters related to work
  • Provide direction and counsel to the investigations team handling internal EEO investigations
  • Manage employment-related disputes and litigation
  • Create and deliver training related to employment law matters
  • Develop creative and practical approaches to handling legal risks and resolving disputes
  • Support People + Culture as they continue to develop and implement progressive workplace practices


What We’re Looking For


  • JD from a nationally recognized ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
  • Member in good standing of the State Bar of California or ability to satisfy its requirements for registered In-House Counsel
  • 10+ years of Federal and California employment law experience in a national law firm and in-house; experience with employee privacy a plus
  • A practical and progressive approach to the practice of employment law
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Strong negotiation and counseling skills
