Corporate Legal Counsel is a dynamic position for QPS Employment Group. It requires collaboration across many departments covering a variety of legal issues and support. You will have the opportunity to both respond to legal issues and proactively create solutions to business needs. It will be located at our corporate office in Brookfield, WI reporting to the President and COO. In summary, the position will be managing risk by providing legal and business advice and solutions to the company and its subsidiaries on matters of insurance, contracts, benefits, and employment laws.

Key responsibilities include:

Monitors, researches, interprets and evaluates state and federal laws and legal issues in applicable jurisdictions and after consideration, makes recommendations on general policies and procedures as well as in specific situations.

Prepares and interprets legal contracts, letters of agreement, and other documents related to a variety of trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters (e.g., loans, leases, purchase agreements, acquisitions, divestitures, employment contracts, client contracts, vendor contracts, intellectual property protection) to protect the organization's legal and business interests. Advises on regulatory filings of such documents.

Represents the organization in legal proceedings before courts, government agencies, or other authorities so the company’s interests are protected Responds to both state and federal discrimination complaints on behalf of the Company an coordinates responses with the Company’s insurance carriers.

Hires and supervises outside counsel on strategy, legal pleadings, depositions, document production, settlement negotiations and trials; reviews and approves billings for payment

Works with operating departments to ensure compliance with laws, statutes, and other regulations; researches legal issues surrounding industry-specific laws and provides guidance on industry and state-by-state practices. Works with departments as they respond to complaints from customers. Works closely with the HR and Insurance Departments on specific matters related to employment law, wage and hour issues and insurance coverage issues. Provides training as needed
