Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2020, in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020) was implemented. PLP 2020 requires that each full-time employee receive a 9.23 percent (9.23%) reduction in pay in exchange for 16 hours PLP 2020 leave credits monthly through June 2022.

Under general supervision of the Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB) General Counsel and under the direct supervision of the Regional Director, the incumbent will prosecute violations of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act. This position is heavily concentrated around legal research and writing in support of prosecuting unfair labor practices; interviewing parties and witnesses concerning alleged unfair labor practices at their work sites or homes. The position requires the ability to engage in complex legal research and analysis; draft complaints, subpoenas, briefs and other legal documents; prepare witnesses for hearings and prosecute cases before administrative law judges; conduct settlement negotiations; and seek injunctive relief in superior and appellate courts throughout California. Additionally, the incumbent will provide outreach and training to stakeholders.
