Sr. Counsel, Litigation
Tesla is seeking an experienced lawyer to support its general and complex litigation practice. This lawyer will represent the company in litigation matters related to its automotive and energy products and other business lines as needed, including serving as counsel in some matters and managing outside counsel in others. The role requires strong research and writing skills to independently draft motions and improve outside counsel work product while working independently on legal tasks that are broad in scope.
Responsibilities
- Represent the company in administrative hearings, court proceedings and arbitrations
- Conduct all aspects of litigation up through trial
- Identify and prepare witnesses for trials and other proceedings
- Prepare and defend company witnesses at deposition
- Conduct fact investigations, analyze legal issues, and develop litigation strategies
- Conduct affirmative and defensive discovery
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents
Requirements
- JD degree from an ABA accredited law school, or equivalent experience
- California bar membership
- 10 or more years of experience in litigation and proceedings in state and federal courts and arbitration
- Ability to understand complex technical products and work with engineers to translate engineering know-how to meet litigation needs
- Class action defense experience
- Exceptional research and writing skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
