Senior Global Content & Partnerships Counsel
About the Team:
The Global Content & Partnerships Legal team sits within the wider Global Product Legal organisation and supports TikTok and other products and services across a broad range of commercial, product, and content-related matters. The team provides strategic legal support for product partnerships, content licensing, creator initiatives, and other high-priority commercial programs, working closely with business, product, operations, and legal stakeholders across multiple regions.
This is a highly collaborative, on-site role and requires five days per week in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Lead legal support for a broad range of complex commercial matters across the US, with flexibility to support wider regional and global initiatives as needed.
- Advise on and negotiate technology transactions and strategic commercial agreements with US partners, including in support of product- and growth-related initiatives.
- Advise on and negotiate content licensing arrangements in the media and entertainment space, including deals involving professionally generated content, production, distribution, and related rights.
- Provide clear, practical legal advice to business teams and senior leadership, balancing commercial objectives with legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.
- Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders and specialist legal teams to support product launches, strategic partnerships, and complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Help drive operational excellence through the development of templates, playbooks, workflows, training, and scalable legal support processes, while supporting and mentoring more junior team members where appropriate.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and active membership in at least one US state bar.
- Extensive years of experience in private practice and/or in-house, with substantial experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Meaningful experience in one or more of the following: technology transactions (SaaS, PaaS, IT outsourcing), strategic product partnerships, content licensing, media and entertainment transactions, or distribution arrangements.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage high-value, high-visibility transactions from start to finish
Strong business judgment with the ability to provide practical, risk-calibrated advice in a fast-paced environment with multiple senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences and drive strong outcomes.
- Experience supporting a consumer-facing technology platform, digital media company, streaming service, studio, or other media/entertainment business.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior in-house experience at a tech-first or tech-enabled company (platform, scale-up, or startup environment strongly preferred).
- Deep familiarity with studio business operations and how major entertainment companies structure deals.
- Experience negotiating global rights deals in content, IP monetization, or creator programs.
- Exposure to high-volume contracting and experience designing scalable contracting solutions.
