There is an anticipated vacancy for the position of ATTORNEY ADVISOR (GENERAL) in the JUDGE ADVOCATE DIVISION (JAD) of HQ US MARINE CORPS.

The successful applicant must have graduated with a J.D. or LL.M. from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate:
  • Providing expert-level legal counsel on Title 10 U.S.C. military personnel law, including officer and enlisted misconduct and administrative separations.
  • Evaluating and interpreting complex federal regulations, administrative laws, and government ethics policies.
  • Experience managing or leading a legal team in a high-volume environment (e.g., managing hundreds of administrative actions or litigation files annually).
  • Drafting and reviewing legislative proposals or high-level policy documents for senior executive or flag-level leadership
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desired):
The ideal candidate will also possess:
  • Experience directly supervising and managing a team of attorneys and legal support staff.
  • Experience in federal civil litigation involving military personnel or administrative law.
  • Experience developing and conducting legal training for attorneys and other legal professionals.
  • Experience working within the Judge Advocate General's Corps of one of the military services.
