ANTICIPATED VACANCY
LOCATION, CONTACT AND SALARY INFORMATION:
Location Information: Regional Counsel shares coverage of the South Region (including St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties).

Starting Salary: $2,525.49 Bi-Weekly/$65,662.74 annually (In accordance with the current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into this position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee's current rate, whichever is higher.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advocate for the Department in delinquency court when needed.
- Provide legal advice and training to Department personnel pertaining to delinquency issues.
- Responsible for initiating litigation of Fla. Stat. Ch. 984 Child in Need of Services (CINS) cases and representing the Department in CINS hearings.
- Provide legal oversight of pre-litigation Family in Need of Services (FINS) cases as needed.
- Liaison with Circuit Courts and stakeholders.
- Analyze statutes, rules, and federal regulations.
- Complete legislative bill analysis as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) is required.
- Membership in the Florida Bar in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as practicing attorney.
- Able to travel to counties within South Florida region for court hearings and training purposes as needed.

SPECIAL NOTES:
This position is advertised as an anticipated vacancy. Training will be provided. Prior juvenile law experience is not necessary.

If initially hired with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state drivers license within 30 days of hire. Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restrictions are acceptable, provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
