Attorney III #26-050 Re-announced
Under limited supervision of the General Counsel, reviews and responds to civil actions, conducts research, drafts pleadings, represents the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services in contested case hearings in the circuit and appellate courts of South Carolina, administrative hearings, the Office of Motor Vehicle Hearings, the Administrative Law Court; including state personnel grievances, grievance committee hearings, and other employment matters as assigned; reviews cases of misconduct from SC Criminal Justice Academy on behalf of Agency Head; provides legal advice to all levels of employees related to their jobs; provides legal training to agents & other staff, drafts & reviews policies, legislative bills, resolutions & amendments impacting the Department as requested; advises the Ignition Interlock Device Program; reviews use of force incidents; drafts or reviews contracts and memoranda of agreement or understanding; primary legal contact for security and privacy issues; performs other duties upon request of the General Counsel and/or the Deputy Director for Legal Services.
A juris doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school and experience as a practicing attorney; member of the SC Bar.
