Litigation Associate

TELECOMMUTE Remote Full Time
Compensation: $100,000 to $200,000 Annually

About the Opportunity

The Center for Consumer Safety (CCS) is looking for a California-barred mission-driven lawyer to join us as a Litigation Associate to root out non-compliance with consumer protection laws. This role will involve researching and preparing cases as well as supporting outside counsel to obtain settlements and pursue litigation. You should be comfortable thriving in a high-paced environment and switching between a variety of case types on a regular basis. You'll be working closely with a team of other lawyers, experts, service providers, and partners to improve consumer protection standards in the US.

About the Company

Our company works with a team of entrepreneurs, researchers analysts and subject matter experts. Across our partner entities, we have decades of experience in consumer products, compliance and testing. We're bringing the same rigor and excellence that we've brought to building products and brands to the task of making sure consumers can feel safe, wherever they shop.

We envision a world where consumers can trust the safety of products they buy - whether at a retailer, on a marketplace or purchased directly. We seek to protect the most vulnerable among us, particularly children, from potential life-long consequences. We work to ensure that companies don't put profit ahead of consumer safety. We aim to strengthen industry-wide compliance with consumer product laws and rather than let those with the deepest pockets prevail.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drafting legal documents including notices, complaints, and settlement agreements
  • Working closely with senior lawyers, experts, service providers and partners to build cases to protect consumers

  • Law school graduate (JD) with 2+ years of legal experience and admitted to the California Bar
  • Litigation experience required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously
  • Strong and demonstrated work ethic, good judgment, initiative, and creativity
  • Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: consumer protection law, product liability, and environmental law
  • Previous job experience at state or federal enforcement agencies is helpful but not required
