Claims Counsel
Position Summary
CATIC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Claims Counsel to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in protecting the company and our policyholders by managing and resolving claims relating to CATIC title insurance policies. This is a unique opportunity to apply your legal expertise in a collaborative, mission-driven environment within the real estate and title insurance industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and evaluate the merits of title insurance claims
- Select and collaborate with outside counsel in resolving and defending claims
- Negotiate claim settlements effectively and efficiently
- Prepare articles for publication and participate in legal seminars for members and agents
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, including CATIC’s Code of Ethics and Conduct
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Claims team and organization
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and collaborate with legal professionals
- Leadership mindset with the ability to influence and motivate others
- Experience in title insurance underwriting is a plus
Education & Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law
- 3–5 years of legal experience, with a focus on real estate and/or litigation
