Commercial Counsel
Overview:
We are looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our small but amazing Legal team in our Tampa office! Our Legal Department takes an active role in guiding the direction and structure of our strategic initiatives, products, and commercial arrangements. We are a team of generalists who bring deep knowledge in our areas of expertise while handling the breadth of legal issues that Crown encounters. You will focus your efforts on various commercial matters, primarily including being the lead attorney on indirect procurement contracts for the Americas Division, and responsibility for our form commercial agreements.

The Impact You Will Make:
- In coordination with our Sourcing team, draft, negotiate, review, and interpret commercial agreements with our vendors in the Americas region.
- In coordination with our Risk Management, Information Security and Sourcing teams, among others, participate in pre-engagement vendor diligence and related risk management.
- Create and improve processes, form agreements, document templates, playbooks and policies for all our operations in the Americas, including materials related to sales and purchases of goods, services, internal transactions, etc.
- Advise business partners on business and legal issues and risks, company policies, and business strategy.
- Counseling on regulatory issues and relationship needs.
- Identify potential compliance vulnerability and risk areas, and develop and implement corrective action plans to resolve problematic issues.
- Conduct research regarding legal and compliance issues affecting Crown’s businesses, translating complex laws and regulations into practical advice and solutions.
Requirements:
- JD degree and active membership in at least one US state bar.
- 3+ years of experience at a mid- or large-size law firm and/or comparable in-house legal experience, ideally working at or advising manufacturing companies.
- Strong background drafting and negotiating commercial agreements - sourcing and procurement contracts experience is a plus.
- Must have strong PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Highly self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, but also comfortable in a collegial team environment.
- Ability and willingness to quickly develop expertise in legal and regulatory areas to meet the needs of our dynamic business.
- Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple matters.
- Sophisticated interpersonal skills, including developing strong internal relationships, influencing others, and working as part of cross-functional teams and in partnership with team members at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel (car and/or plane) up to 10% of the time.
- Full time in office culture. (Yes, really – 5 days a week!)
