Data Center Regulatory Counsel

Location: Telecommuting/remote from within the US

Oracle is seeking a legal counsel with at least 5–10 years of regulatory experience to join its Data Center & Networking Legal team. This role focuses on providing legal and regulatory support for the development, construction, and operation of Oracle's rapidly expanding global data center portfolio, with a particular emphasis on energy and environmental matters.

About Oracle’s Data Center and Networking Legal Team:

The Data Center and Networking legal team within Oracle’s legal department is responsible for providing legal support for complex data center power and energy transactions with data center providers. Regulatory counsel works closely with Oracle executives to review, shape, and implement regulatory initiatives impacting data center development, including power and energy requirements, site selection, land use, permitting, and zoning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • At least 8 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, government agency, or in-house legal department.
  • A demonstrated track record of advising clients on complex energy law, environmental law, or infrastructure regulatory matters.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulatory frameworks affecting energy, utilities, environmental permitting, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Electric utility and power sector regulation
    • Environmental permitting and compliance
    • Land use, zoning, or infrastructure permitting
  • Experience supporting complex commercial or infrastructure projects is a plus.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and counseling skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory issues to non-lawyers.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, while working to develop internal guidance, templates, and best practices to support consistent legal advice across Oracle's expanding data center portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys solving complex regulatory challenges, partnering with cross-functional business teams, and working at the intersection of technology, infrastructure, and sustainability. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys, business leaders, engineering, real estate, construction, energy procurement, sustainability, and government affairs teams to help support Oracle's cloud infrastructure growth.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $146,300 to $306,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.


Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
