QC Holdings, LLC, a consumer finance company headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas, is seeking a qualified attorney to join its in-house legal department. QC operates approximately 350 branch locations across 13 states and Canada and continues to expand its online loan portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is looking to build a meaningful in-house practice at the intersection of law, regulation, and business strategy within a dynamic and highly regulated industry.

This position will work closely with other legal and compliance professionals and focus on the interpretation and application of local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing consumer finance products and operations. The attorney in this role will help support the development, structure, and ongoing administration of financial products, while also advising business partners on legal and regulatory requirements that affect day-to-day operations and longer-term strategic initiatives.

The attorney will also play a key role in supporting the company’s interactions with state and federal regulators, including audits, examinations, and responses to regulatory inquiries. Success in this role will require strong legal research and analytical skills, sound judgment, the ability to evaluate statutory and regulatory requirements, often on tight timelines, and the ability to communicate practical, business-focused guidance to non-legal stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and advise on local, state, federal, and Canadian consumer finance laws and regulations.
  • Support the design, review, and implementation of financial products, disclosures, policies, and operational practices.
  • Assist with regulatory examinations, audits, and responses to inquiries from state agencies and other regulators.
  • Collaborate with business teams across Operations, Information Technology, Audit, Accounting, Product Development, Training, Collections, and Marketing to provide practical legal guidance.
  • Translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable recommendations for business leaders.
  • Help identify legal and compliance risks and support the development of sound, business-oriented solutions.

The company is seeking an attorney with one to five years of experience in transactional, regulatory, compliance, or related legal practice. The ideal candidate will be a strong researcher and writer, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to balance legal precision with practical business needs. Prior experience in consumer finance or another highly regulated industry is helpful, but not required for a candidate with strong analytical ability, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn.

Required Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preference given to candidates licensed to practice law in Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Wisconsin).
  • The ability to obtain or maintain a bar license or in-house registration in the state of Kansas.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, examinations, or business support, if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to five years of relevant legal experience.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and respond effectively under short timeframes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with legal and business teams.
  • Interest in consumer finance, regulatory law, and in-house practice.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Location: Lenexa, Kansas. Remote or hybrid work may be possible; however, preference will be given to local candidates.
