Job Description:
This job is responsible for helping shape and execute the Legal Department’s outside counsel strategy, serving as a key liaison between outside counsel and the Department, and supporting the Department’s Operational Excellence objectives. Key responsibilities include evaluating existing processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, developing and implementing strategic solutions, and leading or contributing to cross-functional initiatives that enhance outside counsel management practices. Job expectations include applying a thorough understanding of Legal Department operations and practices; maintaining working knowledge of bank policies, programs, procedures, and financial principles; providing practical guidance on policy and operational questions from Legal Department colleagues; and influencing stakeholders to drive effective execution of strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Drives Operational Excellence initiatives to enhance legal operations processes and increase efficiencies
  • Identifies opportunities to integrate Artificial Intelligence into both internal and outside counsel workflows
  • Manages or collaborates on initiatives that involve stakeholders from Legal, Finance, Tech, Risk, and other Business Enablement and Initiative groups
  • Provides practical guidance on policy and operational questions from Legal Department colleagues
  • Works closely with vendor management to reduce risk

Required Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of in-house and/or law firm experience
  • J.D. and admission to at least one state bar required with strong academic credentials
  • Ability to multi-task and operate using sound business judgment on a day-to-day basis with limited supervision
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects with short deadlines with great attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional attitude, and work ethic
  • Strong financial acumen and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, influencing and facilitation skills, including the ability to make effective presentations
  • Must be analytical and have the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to bring multiple stakeholders together, drive decision consensus, and demonstrate personal courage
  • Prior experience with financial management, project management, governance, operations and initiative strategy is a plus

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$157,500.00 - $236,500.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
