County Attorney
The Sullivan County Attorney’s Office is currently seeking an innovative and creative attorney with an interest in public service and a desire to serve their community.
- Essential Job Responsibilities include:
- Working with law enforcement to support the investigation of criminal cases and prosecuting criminal cases in both the 5th Circuit-District Divisions and Sullivan Superior Court.
- Works closely with the Office of Victim Witness Coordinator to ensure that all victims/witnesses are properly informed, prepared for hearings, and supported throughout the pendency of the criminal process
- Provides advice and guidance to local law enforcement during non-office hours
- Acts as counsel for the State at hearings and addresses post-trial/conviction motions
- Prepare and present investigations and cases to the Grand Jury
- Communicates with news media when appropriate
A candidate for this position should have a degree in jurisprudence from a law school, be registered to practice law under the laws of the State of New Hampshire, maintain current membership in the New Hampshire Bar Association, and have three (3) to five (5) years prior experience in law enforcement or the criminal justice system.
A candidate should have a thorough knowledge of the principles of law, judicial procedures and rules of evidence; have the ability to perform complex legal research, to analyze the facts, present them in arguing cases before the Court, establish and maintain an effective working relationship with court officials, law enforcement personnel and the general public.
