Job Description

The Fellow, Enterprise Deputy General Counsel reports directly to the SVP and General Counsel and serves as a senior advisor on strategic litigation, regulatory, and enterprise risk matters. This role is responsible for advising senior leadership and business units on complex legal and regulatory issues while helping to proactively manage the Company’s legal risk profile.

This role requires a seasoned legal leader with the ability to independently manage sensitive, high-profile matters and lead special initiatives involving executive leadership, regulators, and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in government enforcement and litigation, along with a strong ability to guide the organization through an evolving regulatory and legislative landscape.

In addition, this leader will focus on anticipating enforcement trends and congressional priorities and translating those insights into effective legal, communications, and investigative strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Legal Department leadership to develop and execute strategies addressing a dynamic and evolving legal risk environment.

  • Advise senior legal leadership on complex issues involving external legal and regulatory exposure.

  • Monitor federal and state legislative, regulatory, and enforcement developments; assess business impact and provide actionable guidance to senior management.

  • Manage and oversee outside counsel engagements.

  • Collaborate with the General Counsel and leadership team to drive departmental priorities and address cross-functional strategic challenges.

Ideal Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience within a litigation practice at a major international law firm or an enforcement division in a major U.S. government agency such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or Department of Justice (DOJ).  
  • Significant experience advising on legal matters relating to litigation in a large financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-trust, high-visibility matters with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders and building credibility across leadership teams.
  • A Juris Doctorate.
