Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technology Counsel to join our legal team and report to our Chief Intellectual Property Counsel. This individual will play a critical role in providing strategic legal guidance on a wide array of technology, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, and privacy-related matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks associated with our initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice and support on a broad range of technology-related issues, including software licensing, development agreements, data rights, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, open source, brand enforcement, patent and trademark law, and emerging technologies.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex technology agreements, including software licenses, third-party development agreements, API licensing agreements, cloud service agreements, and partnership contracts.
  • Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments in the technology sector and advise on potential impacts to the company's operations and strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product development, and marketing, to ensure legal compliance and best practices in technology initiatives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to address technology, intellectual property, and artificial intelligence related legal issues and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for employees on legal topics related to technology and artificial intelligence.
  • Manage and oversee external legal counsel on specialized technology matters.
  • Provide strategic guidance on intellectual property protection and enforcement.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school; superior academic performance in law school and undergraduate program required.
  • Member of the bar and in good standing in at least one state.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing technology law, preferably in a corporate or large law firm setting.
  • Proven expertise in software licensing, data privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property law.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience drafting and negotiating complex technology agreements.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks governing technology and artificial intelligence.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive mindset and the ability to anticipate and address legal issues in a strategic manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the technology industry or with technology-focused clients.
  • Advanced degree in technology, information systems, engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with international technology law and compliance.
  • Ability to handle a wide spectrum of legal issues.

Compensation

  • Base salary; annual bonus (tied to Company performance); annual equity award; relocation to Florida.
