Under the supervision of the VP, Business & Legal Affairs, this role is responsible for negotiating, drafting, reviewing, and administering high volume entertainment industry agreements across a broad range of transactions. The Associate Manager will also support rights clearances, legal research, and business affairs matters related to the acquisition, creation, distribution, and exploitation of recorded music and other entertainment content. This role works closely with internal departments, artists, managers, attorneys, and other third parties to facilitate transactions, coordinate approvals and rights clearances, maintain accurate contract and rights records, and support the timely execution and implementation of agreements and legal initiatives.
Job Functions:
· Draft, review, negotiate, and administer a broad range of entertainment industry agreements and other legal documents under the supervision of a senior attorney.
· Manage transactions from inception through execution, facilitating deal progression while identifying and escalating legal and business risks as appropriate.
· Summarize, analyze, and interpret contractual provisions to support business decision-making by label executives and internal stakeholders.
· Conduct legal research and analysis relating to copyright, contract, intellectual property, and other entertainment industry matters.
· Assist in the investigation and resolution of legal claims, disputes, and other legal matters, including the preparation of correspondence and formal responses.
· Support the legal clearance process for audio, audiovisual, and other content releases, including reviewing supporting documentation and confirming required approvals and rights.
· Prepare and distribute routine legal correspondence, memoranda, notices, and related documentation.
· Collaborate with internal departments, including A&R, Marketing, Finance, Digital, and Operations, to address day-to-day legal, contractual, and business affairs matters.
· Maintain accurate contract rights, and transactional records and support the implementation and administration of executed agreements.
· Assist in the preparation of periodic reports and presentations regarding legal, contractual, and business affairs matters affecting the company.
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
· Strong contract drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), DocuSign, Monday.com, and AI productivity tools.
· Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, including the management of physical and electronic files.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Sound business judgment and the ability to identify practical solutions while maintaining compliance with company policies and risk parameters.
· Self-starter with strong initiative, resourcefulness, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple departments and organizational levels.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with executives, artists, managers, attorneys, and other external business partners.
· Strong presentation skills and the ability to present information clearly and confidently.
· Flexibility to work extended hours as business needs require.
Experience:
· Minimum of one (1) year experience in music industry, business affairs, legal affairs, entertainment law, or a related field preferred.
· Experience reviewing, drafting, and administering entertainment industry agreements preferred.
· Experience working in a multicultural and multinational environment, preferably within a global company.
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
· JD from and top tiered law school
