We’re looking for a legal counsel to:
•act as point of entry for legal and regulatory matters related to business and consumer deposits, retail and online/mobile banking, cash management products, and payment services
•monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the business and consumer deposits and payments business in the United States
•provide advice to our business divisions on legal frameworks, issues, negotiations, client disclosures and agreements, and other related documentation
•support our strategic initiatives and projects, primarily in developing a first direct-to-client deposits and payments platform for UBS’s $120B+ US Bank catering to its US Wealth Management clients

•ideally, 5+ years of experience practicing law in the financial services sector
•motivated and skilled at driving a proactive solution-orientated process
•confident ability to advise and communicate effectively with management and US regulators
•strong analytical skills and demonstration of thought leadership
•a dedicated team spirit and ability to interact and communicate with colleagues on all levels
Pluses include:
•experience with US laws and regulations governing retail and business deposit-taking and cash management products and services, including Regulations CC, D, DD, E, J, P, and V
•knowledge of UCC articles 3, 4 and 4A, and payment system rules (e.g., NACHA, RTP, Fedwire/CHIPS)
•experience in preparing deposit service agreements and forms, deposit account agreements, disclosures and related third-party agreements
•experience with financial services technology system builds and/or integration
•you’re curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment – validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use

You’ll be working in the UBS Bank USA, N.A. legal team, reporting to the Lead Counsel for US Banking, supporting staff primarily located in New Jersey/New York. We focus on delivering high-quality legal advice and solutions to our internal banking division. As a legal counsel, you’ll play an important role in making sure our business clients receive timely, accurate and coherent legal service.We’re a team that support each other as we serve the needs of our clients.
Your expertise
• a law degree with current admission to the Bar in a US jurisdiction and license to practice in-house where you are located•ideally, 5+ years of experience practicing law in the financial services sector
