Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim Chief Legal Officer.

Overview: Our client, a large, integrated healthcare enterprise, is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Legal Officer to serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO. This executive-level role requires a highly experienced legal leader with exceptional judgment, executive presence, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced environment. The Interim CLO will provide practical, business-oriented counsel on critical legal and strategic matters.

Experience: Our client is seeking a seasoned legal executive with prior Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, or equivalent senior leadership experience within the healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record advising CEOs and executive teams, navigating complex regulatory and operational environments, and providing strategic counsel in support of organizational growth and key business initiatives.

Location: Hybrid, in Philadelphia Tuesday-Thursday

Responsibilities Include:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, providing timely and practical legal guidance on day-to-day business, operational, and strategic matters.
• Participate in executive meetings, calls, board-related activities, and other key leadership discussions as needed.
• Advise on business expansion initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, regulatory considerations, governmental and political dynamics, and payor contracting issues associated with healthcare transactions.
• Partner closely with executive leadership to identify legal risks, evaluate options, and develop pragmatic solutions.
• Provide leadership and continuity to the legal department while preserving existing structures, outside counsel relationships, and operational processes.
• Exercise sound judgment by leveraging internal and external subject matter experts when appropriate and ensuring legal advice is thoughtful, accurate, and well-informed.

Qualifications Include:

• Former Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, or senior legal executive with significant experience advising CEOs and executive leadership teams.
• Healthcare industry experience is required, including familiarity with complex healthcare organizations, regulatory environments, and M&A activity.
• Demonstrated executive presence, strong business acumen, and the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders.
• Ability to balance responsiveness with thoughtful legal analysis and sound decision-making.
• Experience navigating high-profile, strategically sensitive matters involving multiple stakeholders.
