Job Description:

The Company:

More than ever, American consumers are keeping their vehicles longer, making quick and affordable routine service essential to consumers. Within the automotive repair industry, there is one distinct and iconic brand – Jiffy Lube – and one dynamic company that stands out from the rest – Team Car Care, LLC, the largest Jiffy Lube franchisee in the U.S. Operating about 450 Jiffy Lube locations from coast to coast, serving nearly 5 million guests each year with about 4,000 teammates, Team Car Care’s Mission is to Create Guests for Life and applying our RITTE values (Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, Trustworthy, and Excellence).

The Position:

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will serve as a key member of the Legal Department.

The AGC role impacts all the dimensions of operating a large, distributed workforce across numerous states in a highly regulated, franchised industry. This is a highly hands-on, execution-oriented role in a fast-paced, multi-site, retail service organization.

The AGC will support the GC, initially focusing on areas in which the AGC has a strong prior background and being developed, as needed, into a more generalist role. Like the GC, the AGC will be supported by a lean legal staff. The role presents the opportunity to positively impact all facets of the enterprise, such as Human Resources, Marketing, IT, Facilities, Real Estate, and Operations. The AGC must possess strong generalist skills and the ability to engage in legal advice; research; policy drafting; dispute resolution; negotiation; litigation; outside counsel management; compliance/safety affairs; contract review and drafting, under the direction of the General Counsel.

The role may require management of an assigned portion of the docket of litigation and disputes, which commonly involve general liability, employment (inc. wage/hour), products liability, and commercial litigation and collaboration with outside counsel and insurance carriers.

The AGC may provide oversight of certain governance needs such as annual report filing and corporate entity management. The AGC must thrive in a lean environment and be capable of partnering with financial and accounting professionals concerning legal exposure.

The ideal candidate has an attitude of saying “yes” to new areas of responsibility. The AGC will show strong legal judgment, exceptional business acumen, and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. The AGC must be a self-starter who takes the initiative to support the GC in a way that allows the GC to focus on the top strategic matters of the organization and allows the AGC to contribute more independently over time. The AGC must be self-disciplined in order to meet numerous incoming demands with follow-through. The AGC will roll up their sleeves to personally draft, negotiate, investigate, and resolve matters with speed and accuracy. This professional will support growth, reduce risk, and strengthen decision-making across the enterprise.

Strong candidates will have a “can do” attitude with a high degree of independent judgment, attention to detail, and organization skills. The successful candidate will play a highly impactful role as a member of TCC’s Legal Department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris doctorate degree from ABA-approved law school
  • US qualified lawyer licensed and in good standing in at least one state
  • Experience in a PE-backed environment is helpful
  • Ideally, 5+ years’ experience with at least 2 years in an in-house environment
  • Depth of experience in at least one of the following areas: commercial contracting, employment/labor law (inc. CA wage/hour), or dispute/litigation management

Job Location and Schedule:

While there is ample hybrid work flexibility, this integral role is not performed on a remote basis. Corporate office is in the Dallas Fort-Worth area (Las Colinas-Irving).
