Assistant Prosecutor

Description:

The City of Toledo Law Department has an opening for an Assistant Prosecutor in Toledo Municipal Court. Assistant Prosecutors handle criminal and traffic cases ranging from disorderly conduct to domestic violence. They handle numerous cases on a daily basis in a very fast-paced environment. In addition to routine dockets, Assistant Prosecutors frequently argue motions and try cases, presenting a tremendous opportunity to develop courtroom skills. The starting pay is approximately $64,000 - $79,000, with generous health benefits.

Examples of Duties:
Represents the City in prosecuting cases under the jurisdiction of the Toledo Municipal Court. Prepares warrants, pleadings, briefs and other related legal instruments and documents.

Specific Training, Experience, and Special Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Doctor of Jurisprudence or L.L.B. One (1) year of experience as a practicing attorney preferred. Must be admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Good knowledge of criminal law and procedure; good knowledge of the Toledo Municipal Code and the Ohio Revised Code. Considerable skill in presenting ideas clearly and persuasively, verbally and in writing.

Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; considerable ability to research laws; working ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
