LEGAL COUNSEL POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to provide legal support and practical guidance across a broad range of corporate matters. This position will work closely with internal leadership, managers, and outside counsel to support litigation, compliance, records management, risk mitigation, and other legal matters affecting the company.
LEGAL COUNSEL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to and good standing with at least one state bar; additional state bar admissions are a plus.
- Experience in corporate law, litigation, healthcare law, compliance, or a related legal environment preferred.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex legal concepts in a practical and understandable manner.
- Sound judgment and the ability to identify and proactively address potential legal risks.
- Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, outside counsel, and leadership.
LEGAL COUNSEL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Advises VitalCore concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of defending lawsuits, and legal rights and obligations.
- Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
- Represent VitalCore before government agencies.
- Study Constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases.
- Prepare, draft, and review legal documents.
- Negotiate settlements for civil disputes.
- Supervise legal assistants.
- Examine legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit.
- Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation of cases.
- Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.
- Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
- Search for and examine public and other legal records to write opinions or establish ownership.
- Confer with colleagues with specialties in appropriate areas of legal issue to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings.
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
- Help develop federal and state programs, draft and interpret laws and legislation, and establish enforcement procedures.
