Job Description

As a member of the Commercial Services Legal team, the Senior Counsel will contribute significantly to the handling of all legal issues arising in connection with the global Commercial Services business. Hilton’s Commercial Services business includes Sales, eCommerce, Social Media, Call Center Operations, Revenue Management, Regional Marketing and third party distribution. The Senior Counsel will support all areas of Commercial Services, but will focus initially on sales, online and call center matters.

What will I be doing?

The Senior Counsel for Commercial Services will provide prompt, practical legal advice to the global Sales teams, including in connection with umbrella meeting and event agreements, as well as corporate travel agreements. The Team Member will also provide prompt, practical legal advice in connection with the eCommerce and call center operations businesses.

Other key priorities are listed below:

Negotiate a wide variety of vendor contracts in support of the global Sales and Digital teams, and other Commercial Services teams, and provide attorney oversight, as needed, of the vendor contracts for which the team’s Senior Contract Managers are primarily responsible

Update and maintain various contract templates and their translations, and support local teams in any needed contract template customizations

Publish and train on contract template updates

Develop and provide training and tools to Commercial Services business partners on a variety of legal topics, including contracting and, in coordination with the Hilton Legal Compliance team, regulatory compliance

Identify, plan and execute Legal work streams that support and enable the strategic priorities of the global Commercial Services teams

Coordinate and collaborate with other Hilton Legal teams, globally

Assist in setting long term goals for the Commercial Services Legal team that become the basis for short term goals and annual operational planning

Manage outside counsel and other service provider resources in accordance with established budgets

Handle many important and time sensitive matters simultaneously with grace and urgency

Ability to organize and manage multiple projects from initiation to conclusion with minimal guidance from the Vice President

Ability to monitor and complete large volume of tasks with varying levels of priority with the deadlines requested by corporation clients

Ability to work with many internal and external contacts (including vendors and their counsel, senior corporation clients and outside counsel)

Job Requirements

What are we looking for?

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and excellent credentials from a respected law school and undergraduate institution

A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a large law firm or in-house experience

A minimum of two (2) years of Supervisory experience

Broad legal experience, but specifically including legal support of eCommerce or online businesses

Ability and openness to constantly learn and improve all aspects of the provisions of legal services

Compliance with the requirements for in-house practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Must be in good standing with the federal courts as well as with the state courts and bar authorities where he/she is licensed to practice

Member of the Virginia Bar, or otherwise eligible to practice law in-house in Virginia

Ability to travel as required (10%)

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience

A minimum of four (4) years of Supervisory experience

Experience with a global firm and/or company
