The Legal Specialist, Intellectual Property will support the IP legal department in its IP strategy and policy practices
Research, track and evaluate developments in domestic and international IP law that affect the exploitation, protection and value of the company’s intellectual property, including draft legislation, government policy studies, rulemakings and caselaw in the areas of copyright (including content protection), trademark, patent, trade secrets and rights-of-publicity
Prepare summaries and analyses of proposed IP legislation, policy studies and rulemakings
Develop, maintain and update systems for capturing and tracking global IP legal developments with implications for NBCUniversal’s business
Assist IP Counsel in developing substantive IP policy recommendations for NBCUniversal federal, state and international government affairs organizations
Work with IP department staff in preparing briefing materials for NBCUniversal businesses on IP implications of potential legislative and policy developments
Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate an ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing business environment

Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications
Either a law degree OR a Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of experience in a copyright-related practice at a law firm, government or in-house legal group
Familiarity with intellectual property law, and copyright law in particular
Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
