Northrop is currently seeking a Corporate Counsel (Real Estate), who will be responsible for providing broad-based legal counsel and support to the Company with respect to its real estate transactions and activities worldwide. Specific responsibilities include:
Ensuring that effective legal counsel is provided in support of the Company’s real estate activities and transactions worldwide; including, but not limited to: leases and real property acquisitions and dispositions.
Providing support in connection with economic development opportunities (e.g., tax and other credits and incentives) for the Company.
Supporting a wide range of other real estate-related activities, including, but not limited to: mergers, acquisitions, litigation, environmental access agreements, real property tax assessment and appeals, and process improvement opportunities.
Leading company-wide development of legal positions and company-wide capabilities to provide legal support for the Company’s real estate activities.
Addressing other issues as they arise with respect to the Company’s real estate activities.
Managing outside counsel and possibly supervising other attorneys and paralegals.
A Juris Doctorate and active state bar membership.
10+ years directly related, broad-based experience in a law firm or as in-house counsel.
Experience managing legal real estate issues for operations and activities in the US and internationally, including experience with leases, joint ventures, 1031 exchanges, sale-leasebacks, and working with office building portfolios.
Strong ability to prioritize and assist with special projects assigned by the corporate vice president and general counsel.
Superior oral and written communication skills.
Exceptional integrity and judgment, coupled with outstanding analytical skills and strategic thinking.
Desire for collaboration, team work and motivation of others through thought leadership.
Experience soliciting incentives for real estate transactions from state and local governments.
Demonstrated ability to balance multiple, complex, competing priorities, organize and lead teams, utilize diplomacy, program management and interpersonal skills to accomplish objectives and partner with other organizations and councils, inside and outside the company.
