Alight Solutions seeks a high-performing attorney looking for an opportunity to join a collaborative and energetic legal department to support a rapidly transforming and dynamic business. This position is for a senior attorney responsible for Alight Solutions’ insurance-focused operations, primarily in the healthcare industry. The position presents a unique opportunity to focus on broad range of insurance, contract, regulatory, compliance and corporate matters.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a business partner and trusted legal advisor to our business leaders, service delivery teams and clients and help advance strategic business initiatives.
- Learn, interpret and advise the business of relevant State and Federal insurance regulations, laws, rules and industry trends and practices that may affect Alight’s insurance operations and its clients.
- Review new State and Federal insurance legislative and regulatory developments with business colleagues and understand and translate the operational impact of those developments on Alight’s business.
- Develop best practices for identifying and reducing known and potential regulatory, legal, and business risks.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts, correspondence and other communications, including carrier and agency agreements, client agreements and correspondence with State DOIs or other regulatory agencies.
- Establish and nurture relationships with carriers, brokers, upline agencies, contacts at DOIs and other regulatory agencies.
- Learn and advise the business on application of brokerage commissions.
- Undertake other assignments as determined by legal department leadership.
- Periodic travel may be required depending on assigned projects.
Experience and Qualifications:
- At least five years of substantive Federal and State insurance regulatory, compliance or transactional experience gained either at a law firm or another in-house position.
- Ability to gain a deep technical understanding of the complex Federal and State insurance and health care laws and regulations, including government healthcare programs and the insurance regulatory enforcement environment affecting the business.
- Knowledge of Medicare laws, rules and regulations is preferred.
- Ability to provide good, proactive professional guidance and advice and sound business-focused solutions that combine excellent judgment, creativity, risk-taking, and technical expertise.
- A history of enthusiastic participation in a team environment.
- Learning agility, including a demonstrated willingness to develop expertise in new subject matter areas.
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to deal with complex issues in a challenging environment.
- Ability to effectively present and communicate information to senior management and various business colleagues and successfully impact decision-making.
- Share Alight’s purpose and values, including high ethical standards, teamwork, client service, work ethic and positive attitude.
- Candidate must have Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school and be a member in good standing of the bar.
