Job Posting Tips - GoInhouse.com
Job Posting Tips - GoInhouse.com
(1) Use Our Listed Locations. If the Location is a Location in our pre-defined list - or if it is a suburb close to it - use the Location we have. This makes the job eligible to reach far more of our job alert subscribers than other locations. You can always include the actual location in the text of the job posting itself. If you need to use another location than one in our pre-defined list, you can scroll down to "Other" and a box will pop up and let you type in the "City, ST".
(2) Mention GoInhouse.com & Add Tracking Links. In Your Post. By instructing candidates to mention GoInhouse.com in your job posting, you will be better able to track that candidates have been generated from your job posting. In addition, if you use the Apply by URL method, you may be able to add special tracking links that list GoInhouse.com as the candidate source. If you are using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), the ATS may have special formats for tracking links that you can use that will permit the ATS to track an application back to the GoInhouse.com job board. Finally, use a URL that leads directly to your application page. There is no reason to make the candidate read the job description again, and they'll go straight to applying.
(3) Use Featured Jobs. Our Featured Jobs have specific advantages over non-featured jobs, and these advantages drive more candidate attention. Featured Jobs stay in the top area of our home page for 7 days and are highlighted with a distinctive color for the life of the posting, including in searches run by candidates. Especially in this highly competitive market, using Featured Jobs can make your job postings stand out amongst the rest and attract more candidates. Discounted package pricing is available for 3, 5 and 8 Featured Job Packages.
(4) Disclose Salary and Benefits. If you have an attractive compensation package you can disclose, put it in the job description - this will garner more attention and applications. Note that you may have to disclose compensation as a matter of law and you should check the applicable legal requirements before posting your job. With more and more employers providing salary data in their job postings, those that lack them are often perceived as not carrying competitive compensation. Simply put, show the compensation package you are offering and you'll often get more - and better - candidate flow.
(5) Post In Multiple Locations. If your job can sit in multiple locations, post your job separately in each location. Just including your additional locations in your job posting text doesn't make your job posting eligible to be included in job alerts that go out to thousands of subscribers every morning. Each posting in a location costs a job credit, but the expanded reach often brings in far more candidates. And our discounted job packages (especially our Featured Jobs packages) offer significant savings.
(6) Add All Applicable Categories. Add as many categories as are relevant to the job. There is no extra charge for categories and these also expand the job's reach both to job alert subscribers, in search, etc.
(7) Use Remote and TELECOMMUTE. We are seeing a trend favoring Remote and/or TELECOMMUTE jobs. So if the job has to be in a Location but still is Remote, you can make the one setting Remote and then make the main Location the city name from our list. However, jobs that seem to be getting a tremendous amount of attention these days are those that are "Remote" and "TELECOMMUTE" - meaning anyone from the US can apply. Some employers are headed in this direction generally, and they are reaping the rewards with large candidate pools. Jobs like this that also disclose their compensation package (see Item 3 above) are some of the most popular jobs on the board, and this trend will only continue to grow.
(8) Use Apply by Email. "Apply by email" through our site (rather than having the candidate directed to a portal) works better for some employers. There appears to be a drop-off when candidates are redirected to a portal and then have to register at your Applicant Tracking System, go through numerous pages, etc., before applying. Our site allows direct applications to the email address you specify, and that saves the candidates time as they are used to how our site works. Most Applicant Tracking Systems let you feed in resumes, and using Apply by Email on our site will often generate more resumes to use.
(9) Join And Share In The InhouseBlog LinkedIn Group. With over 20,000 members from staff attorneys to General Counsel, the InhouseBlog® LinkedIn Group is a key place to share details of the job posting you posted at GoInhouse.com. Filled with active and passive candidates, it's a great way to network with in-house counsel who often share postings with colleagues they know who would be a good fit! Make sure to use the job link from GoInhouse.com when posting.
(10) Track Effectively. Want to know for sure that your applicant is coming from GoInhouse.com? Include a note in your job posting instructing applicants to mention GoInhouse.com as the source of their application.
(11) Spread The Word! Once your job is posted, take the link to the job and post it to your social media accounts and ask your colleagues to do the same. This will increase the reach of your job posting and get potential candidates viewing the opportunity.
