Innogy Renewables US is a hiring an Assistant General Counsel to join our team in Chicago, to support an exciting, growing business platform.

We are looking for someone who has had had substantive exposure to several of the core areas of law listed below which are typical for renewable energy projects (particularly wind and solar) to provide suitable and strong support to the US General Counsel and internal stakeholders as we grow the Company through the development, acquisition, construction, and operation of large scale wind and solar power projects.

 

Assistant General Counsel Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • General Energy and Project Contract Law (primary focus on wind and solar energy projects):
    • M&A: Sale/Purchase Agreements, NBOs, LOIs, Joint Development Agreements, etc.
    • Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts
    • Turbine Supply and Solar Module Supply Contracts
    • O&M Contracts
    • Power Purchase Contracts (with both Utilities and Corporate Buyers)
    • Power Price Hedging Agreements
    • Interconnection Agreements
    • Procurement Contracts for other major equipment (e.g. transformers)
  • Corporate Organizational Law / corporate housekeeping
  • Land and Real Property Law (including associated leases, easements etc.)
  • Tax Equity and Structured Finance Law
  • Siting, Permitting Rules and Environmental Law
  • Transmission and Interconnection Rules and Regulations (Utility and ISO/RTO Regulatory Law)
  • Operating Project Rules and Regulatory Law (FERC, NERC, etc.)
  • International and cross border tax Law
  • Foreign Ownership Regulatory Law

 

Assistant General Counsel Job Requirements:

  • Qualified, licensed attorney at law with 3-5 years experience in the above-mentioned areas of law
  • Previous experience in the renewables sector strongly preferred
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently
  • Having a strategic, analytical and creative way of thinking
  • Ability to exercise a high level of diligence, even under time pressure
  • Reliable and trustworthy team player
  • An international mindset and cultural awareness
  • Experience working effectively in large international organizations
  • Needs to be collaborative and enjoy a collegial approach
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced (i.e., “commercial triage”) environment
